A family of three–father, 5-year-old, and 2-year-old–were moving to Galveston earlier last month, driving their 18-wheeler to the new city. Suddenly, they hit a cement pillar and caused a horrible accident.
The accident caused a fire that unfortunately killed the father of the family. The 5-year-old son is credited with pulling his 2-year-old brother out of the accident’s flame and saving his life.
Although the 2-year-old did suffer burn injuries, he is expected to make a full recovery, thanks to his brother.
It is vital to maintain high safety procedures when operating an 18-wheeler. Never get behind the wheel of a semi truck unless you are certain you can operate it safely. This was a tragic accident born out of an innocent move involving an 18-wheeler. Our thoughts are with the boys and their family.
